Acts Devotional 1/3

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

The Holy Spirit is the key character mentioned 57 times in the book of Acts. He is emphasized for two very important reasons. Firstly, when Jesus ascends into heaven, the Holy Spirit comes down and descends upon believers. This brings us closer to God than ever before. Secondly, the Holy Spirit also empowers the church – all those that have accepted Jesus as Lord – equipping us with the message of the Gospel, the power of the Gospel and the ability to proclaim and live out the Gospel.

He is a living blueprint on how the Kingdom of God grows and expands through a community of believers, who have accepted Jesus as Lord and who are fully surrendered to the will of God.
