FAITH
Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
– Romans 4:19-21
Sometimes, we can mistakenly believe that exercising faith means ignoring the facts of our circumstances.
Today’s scripture is a powerful reminder that having faith does not mean denying the facts of our current reality. Rather, it means knowing the facts of our circumstances and – at the same time – believing and standing on the promises that God has for us.
Abraham was fully aware of the facts; he was almost 100 years old and Sarah was barren. But he was also fully aware of the promise of God to him – that he would be “the Father of many nations” (Genesis 17:4). He believed that God was more than able to bring this to pass – and He did!
Today is another opportunity for us to place our faith in God, knowing that His power and promises are more than able to transcend the apparent limitations of our current reality.

Question for reflection:
What are the promises you believe God has for you? How can you take a step of faith to stand on those today?
