PRAYER & FASTING DEVOTIONAL DAY 5

Faith Under Fire

By Aby Oberholster

Daniel 3:25
““But look!” he said. “I see four men, walking around freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the fourth man looks like a son of the gods!”

I love the incredible story found in Daniel 3. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three young men determined to worship only God. In the face of death they stood firm, with unshakeable, fiery faith unwilling to compromise. They had no assurance they would survive the flames, but they stood firm anyway.

Conflict. Depression. Unexpected tragedy. Unwanted pain. There is no end to the list of fires that ignite in and around our lives every day. But like the men in the story, when our faith is under fire, we can’t allow the fire around us to be greater than the fire of faith within us.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the assurance of things unseen. Often when all we see are flames, we can miss who is standing in the fire with us. Only three men walked into the fire, but four men were seen. Jesus didn’t just save them from the fire, but stood with them IN the fire.

Know today, that as we set our hearts on fire with FAITH, the very fire meant to break us instead becomes the fire that displays the glory of our God.
