What is The Exchange?
The Exchange is an Internship Programme wherein you give a year of your life to serve in the local church. The Exchange is not a gap year, but rather a year to invest in personal development, leadership development, and theological development, and to discover God’s purpose for your life. We believe the best leaders in society should be developed through the local church and The Exchange is an opportunity for this development to take place. On The Exchange, you will be stretched, equipped, and empowered for everyday life, and you will deepen your relationship with God. The Exchange will change how you see your world and your future, and it will help you to become well-equipped, and ready to tackle anything that comes your way.

Who is The Exchange for?
The Exchange is for anyone who has just matriculated, finished studying, or wants to take a gap year and would like to grow. Whether you know what you want to do career-wise or not, The Exchange is a great next step for anyone wanting to develop, equip, stretch, or challenge themselves. The three key pillars of The Exchange program are Leadership Development, Theological Development, and Personal Development. We work strategically to ensure that, throughout the year, you are growing in these three areas.

What would my year look like?
Tentatively, The Exchange will begin on Monday, 22 January 2024, and will end on 11 December 2024. These dates will be confirmed at a later stage.
In a normal week, you will work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday; and you will have a Thursday and a Saturday off. Working hours on weekdays are 8am-4pm. You will be able to take one Sunday off per term, and you will have one allocated week off in the middle of the year for leave.
You will be allocated to different departments, and throughout the year you will be given responsibility in those departments to help it (and you) flourish.
The different departments you could be involved in are Schools, Youth, Kids Church, Media and production, Church Administration, Worship, Events Planning, Catering, etc.

What is the cost?
The cost for The Exchange is R1000/month for 10 months (Feb-Nov).
A more detailed cost breakdown will be given at the Open Night – but the cost covers everything an Exchanger might be involved in for the year (Lesotho Mission trip, conferences & events, resources, termly outings, etc.) Essentially, all of the money goes back to you!
